I sincerely welcome all of you who have visited the website of Yonsei University Law School.
Yonsei's legal education was formally established with the founding of the Department of Law in 1950, with its roots tracing back to the Yonhi College era of the 1920s. Over the course of nearly a century, Yonsei Law has grown alongside the history of Korean society, establishing itself as both a cradle and a symbol of legal education dedicated to upholding the values of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.
The greatest asset of Yonsei Law is its people. Countless legal professionals and scholars educated at Yonsei have played pivotal roles across academia, the legal profession, law firms, corporations and financial institutions, as well as the public sector. In doing so, they have consistently embodied the values that Yonsei upholds—rational thinking, rigorous logic, and a spirit of "leadership through service." This stands as a testament to the fact that Yonsei's legal education is not the product of short-term achievements, but the result of a philosophy and sense of community cultivated over many decades.
Yonsei Law does not rest on its past accomplishments but looks steadily toward the future. Alongside our responsibility to educate legal professionals, we are committed to fulfilling our social responsibilities, pursuing a sustainable legal order, and nurturing the next generation of scholars. We will continue to build an open legal community in which students, faculty, and alumni grow together.
I hope that Yonsei University Law School may bring a small measure of meaning and happiness to all who visit this website. I sincerely wish you and your families peace and joy in your daily lives.
Thank you.
